A.P. BAZELEY WAS BORN IN EDINBURGH, SCOTLAND. NOW LIVES IN OXFORDSHIRE, ENGLAND.
MOTHER, GRANDMOTHER, GREAT GRANDMOTHER AND GODMOTHER.
I met my husband while training as a teacher in Newcastle Upon Tyne after my return from living in the Gulf and married when my course ended. I finished my career as an Accredited Registered Childminder majoring in children with special needs, working in conjunction with our Social Services until in 2012 when I had to retire due to ill health caused by extremely severe allergies (another story explained elsewhere in this site). In between, I gave birth to two children and enlarged our family with the addition of those who decided that they might like to come and live with us and share our home. There are quite a few of those. In fact seventeen! (Also another tale for later!). In addition, I have also been in my day a camel jockey, civil servant, secretary and P.A., accountant, nursery school teacher and a nursery gardener in a plant research facility among other things. Currently I am officially retired and the grandparent available for school run and music lesson escort duties for those grandchildren who live locally. I also work actively in my local church and for a community charity called FAITHWORKS . (Also a wonderful story.) When I am not writing, that is!
I live in a small town by a canal basin. I love seeing the boats on the water. It’s the nearest I can get to the sea, as we live virtually in the middle of England, and I miss the sea so much. Growing up very close to the sea and with the smell of salt on the air makes it hard to be an in-lander. Hence, my love of travel and seeing new places. I’ve lived in Germany, Cyprus and Bahrain. I’ve also visited, France, Germany, Spain, Switzerland, Austria, Lichtenstein, Andorra, Belgium, Holland, Luxembourg, Denmark, India, Australia, Tasmania, South Africa, Turkey and the States too. I inherited my itchy feet from my father. He caught sight of my mother boarding a train in London that was bound for Switzerland. He followed suit but lost her when they got off the train on arrival. However, he found her again on the return journey a week later. He married her a year later. Perhaps that it where the romantic streak comes from too! That’s a story I intend to write for my great-grandchildren some time.
My hobbies have ranged from camel riding and water ski-ing to hockey, volleyball and rugby, dancing from ballroom to line varieties, pottery, swimming, embroidery, sewing and knitting. At the moment I am just trying to learn some Greek as I hope to visit Athens someday. My favorite of all things though are to read … a lot and listen to music. All preferably whilst in close proximity to a large bar of delicious chocolate.
Actually, I think my favorite hobby is just to learn something new each and every day! It makes life so much more interesting.
